I recently posted a YouTube video where I talked a little about how I get through times when I don't feel creative but still need to create. Today I want to elaborate a little and share my philosophy of STOP THINKING AND DO! By that I mean, instead of sitting around thinking about drawing, wishing we were drawing, waiting for the perfect brilliant moment of inspiration, just pick up the pencil and start.
There's no way around it - if you want to get better you have to put in the "mileage" - the time and effort it takes.
I catch myself scrolling on Pinterest or Instagram all the time, endlessly searching for enough inspiration to get me started, but sometimes that final push to pick up my pencil never comes, and I end up with a blank page at the end of the night.
I think this is OK once in a while, but not if it becomes your norm.
In addition to the above topic, I also want to announce that I'm releasing a big series of tutorials starting May 1st.
RELEASED IN FOUR PARTS:
- Rocks: Pebbles/Small rocks, Boulders, Coastal, Mountains, with and without plants (coming MAY 1st)
- Trees: From root to leaf! Individual and as part of a forest (coming MAY 14th)
- Plants: All the wonderful growies of our world including vines, flowers, ferns, and more (coming JUNE 1st)
- Elements: Clouds, Water, Different sun settings, and more (coming JUNE 14th)
Keep an eye out on Youtube, I'll release trailers whenever each video becomes available! And I'll post links on my Tutorial page.
The videos will be available on Skillshare and Gumroad so you can stream them or download, your choice.
It’s been a LOT of behind the scenes work to get this ready, but I’m really looking forward to launching each part!
Talk to you guys soon :)
