It's been a while since I updated about my Forest Year project! If you aren't familiar with it, you can read more here.
I am super excited to announce that WE ALREADY HIT THE GOAL!
That's right, it's not even June, and we have already spent 52 hours in the forests.
So, what does that mean? I'm definitely not stopping here!
Even though my goal was 52 hours during 2018, I've already realized how important this weekly ritual has become, and I've learned that I NEED it. When I go a week without the forest (and it does happen once in a while due to scheduling), I have so much built up anxiety and find my creativity blocked.
It's become a critical part in my creative process, because I often use our weekly woodland hikes as a chance for some plein air painting. That has helped me grow so much as an artist, and I am totally addicted to the process!
So, we are continuing on as usual..who knows, maybe by the end of the year we will have doubled our goal! I am still working on compiling images, thoughts, drawings, paintings for a book that will be a summary of the entire year and everything I've gained from the experience. I hope to have that available by February 2019! I might need to do a kickstarter for that book, but who knows!
For now, here are some images from the past few weeks from various hikes. Enjoy!
