about PATHWAYS
This collection of paintings will explore pathways within the landscape.
A pathway in nature can be like a lifeline while wandering in the wild. Following the path is safe and reassuring even though you’re surrounded by mystery and possibly even danger. A pathway leads you blindly through obstacles, often to some surprising and beautiful places. And there are many types of pathways. A stream carves its own path through the toughest rock. Birds follow an invisible path and always seem so sure of their direction.
A path can also symbolize the trajectory of our life, made up of a series of choices. Throughout life we reach milestones, and we are so sure we’ve finally figured things out. And then a few years later, we see how much we had yet to learn.
By now I can see this cycle never ends. And to be honest I’m glad. In knowing that, I never settle. And if I’m going through a rough time I know eventually I will come out of it.
No matter what path I choose, it just takes one step at a time.
For this collection of paintings I’ll be exploring pathways leading into and through some of my favorite places in Scotland. This is the first year in nearly 6 years that I’m not moving house. I finally feel like I am able to settle in and fully embrace my home. I want to celebrate the beautiful moments I’ve had along this path so far.
Video Series about Pathways
I am releasing a short series of videos about the process of painting Pathways. I will post them here when I upload new episodes.
My original plan was to release the collection on the winter solstice (December 21, 2021). However, due to other projects deadlines I was forced to slow down and make a tough decision to postpone the date. As of now there is not a DEADLINE but rather a goal to complete 5 of these works in early 2022.
As the paintings are completed, I will share them here. The original paintings will be available to purchase on a first-come-first-serve basis, so it’s best to sign up for my newsletter so you don’t miss the opportunity.
